The creation of this instrument has been a joint project between Antigua Winds and renowned woodwind designer, Morrie Backun. As Morrie states, "This is a state of the art clarinet showing what happens when you bring together two of the most sophisticated manufacturing facilities in the world and a mutual desire to make the best product possible."
Antigua-Backun clarinet starts with premium grade grenadilla wood especially choose with best quality control. Throughout the procedure of turned, bored and machined to exacting tolerances by the most advanced machinery and matured skilled personnel, Backun's team dedicated their best to make sure the vintage material can emulate the acoustical properties that the professionals demand. These bodies, bells and barrels then carefully hand-finished and inspected by technicians before leaving the Backun facility in Vancouver, Canada.
With 20 years of experiences, Antigua then takes on the following job where precision manufacturing technology is used to produce the keys. Proficient artisans hand fit posts, rings, rods, springs, and keys to ensure that each instrument performs optimally. Black valentino pads are used to create a perfect seal. Antigua Backun clarinet is born under the contribution from thousands of manpower, to create a clarinet that stands up to today's demands and will meet tomorrow's expectations.
