Banjolele is a generic nickname derived from the "banjulele-banjo," introduced by Alvin D. Keech in 1917. The banjolele combines the small scale, tuning, and playing style of a ukulele with the construction and distinctive tone of a banjo, hence the name combination. The Luna 6-Inch Kalo Banjolele takes inspiration from a traditional Hawaiian quilt design. Luna has chosen to incorporate the Kalo, or taro plant, into the design as this plant was sacred and an essential part of early hawaiian life.
