Toca Percussion recently introduced its new Stage Series Professional Djembes. Each drum is individually carved from a single piece of environmentally-friendly, plantation-grown mahogany wood. The kiln-dried shells are then lathe-turned to a uniform thickness to ensure reliable and consistent tone and timbre. Each Stage Series Djembe is carefully hand finished with twenty coats of teak oil to protect and preserve the wood and enhance its natural dark finish.

Toca designers carved lateral grooves into the interior of the bowls of the drums, resulting in deep, rich bass and no overtones. Each Stage Series Djembe is topped with a hand-selected goatskin head for clear, crisp "slap" tones and stinging highs when the drum is struck at its edge.

To reinforce that point, Stage Series Professional Djembes have been designed with innovative features designed to maximize performance. Toca has increased the number of low-stretch Alpine rope runners with a three ring tuning system. This ensures fast and easy tuning and eliminates head slippage. Stage Series Professional Djembes are available in 10", 12" and 13" head diameters.

Each of Toca's Stage Series Pro Djembes comes with a heavy-duty padded bag that features adjustable shoulder straps, a hip belt and exterior pouches. The outstanding protection afforded by these bags is entirely appropriate, given the unmatched quality and beauty of the instruments they contain.
