The Armory Series is the latest from the master craftsmen over at Mapex. These drums are crafted from a 6-ply, 7.2mm, hybrid shell of Birch/Maple/Birch shell. Forget choosing between birch or maple drums. This kit gives you the best of both worlds. It has the warmth, resonance, and tonality of Maple while still retaining the sharp, biting, almost naturally EQ'd sound of Birch. This gives these drums an impressive tuning range that makes them incredibly versatile. No matter what kind of music you play, the Armory series is sure find itself right at home. These drums also feature Mapex's signature SONIClear bearing edge. This proprietary edge allows the head to sit flush on the drum; making it easier to tune while improving the drum's response, fundamental pitch, and natural resonance.

Armed with the MyDentity lugs, these lugs are extremely low mass and give the drums a refined look while helping keep it in tune. The SONIClear Suspension System was designed to makes minimal contact with the shell. This allows it to improve the drums natural resonance while providing rock solid stability. The spring loaded SONIClear floor tom legs work in the same way. They help improve the drums resonance by allowing the drum to "float" so to speak.
