Meet Gary Dobbs

Gary Dobbs was born in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, where he still lives with his wife Adra. Together they have two children, Jonathon Dobbs and Jennifer Dobbs Nerren. Both are music education students at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Gary graduated from Charles Page High School in Sand Springs where he became a two year All-State Baritone player. His high school band director was Bill Harris, a former partner of The Music Store. Gary went on to earn a B.M.E. degree from OSU under the instruction of Hiram Henry, longtime director of bands at OSU.

Gary started his teaching career in 1972 as band director at Locust Grove Public Schools in northeast Oklahoma. He moved from there to Adair Schools about 25 miles away. It was after these teaching jobs that Gary joined the staff at The Music Store in 1979. Gary's responsibilities include servicing school accounts throughout N.E. and S.E. Oklahoma. Gary actually worked part time for The Music Store during the summer of 1972 after he graduated from college. Gary has worked in all areas at The Music Store over the years and continues to oversee our music department.

Gary still performs with The Sandite Sound community band and various church ensembles in the Sand Springs area.
